Macahambus Cave and Gorge

It was a weekend when i decided to visit One of the most famous sight here in the city is The Macahambus Cave and Gorge is an underground cave with a 130-foot circular gorge. It is located in Lumbia, a few kilometers south of the airport. This is the most popular and most frequently visited cave in Cagayan de Oro City. The ravine is thick with various species of plants and huge trees. It is the site of the historical battle between. This was the site of famous Battle of Macahambus Hill which took place on June 4, 1900, the first Filipino victory against the Americans. The cave itself is a picturesque spot. Today, it’s a short cavern leads to a veranda that overlooks the meandering Cagayan River below. 200 meters away is the Macahambus Gorge. This is actually the steep precipice where the enemy forces fell to their deaths. Today, a flight of over a hundred steps leads one down to the floor of the gorge where there is an underground river that comes out from one cave to another cave. The cave is covered with a lush tropical arbor of forest growth. It was a 30 minute ride with my Motorbike from the city proper. I was a native here in the city but i9t was my first time since birth that I have seen this very beautiful and a historical site. I wonder why it was never introduced by my schools. If not by the power of Internet that I learn and know more about this place.
